CSS Hosts Open House Event
Faculty interested in interdisciplinary coastal research should plan to attend the Coastal Sustainability Studio Open House slated for April 22, 4:00-5:30 pm. This annual Spring event launches the official call for small project proposals up to $35K funded by CSS and sets the stage for faculty from a wide range of academic and research interests to meet one another. In addition to traditional networking at the Open House, faculty interested in accelerating recruitment for a trans-disciplinary research team can participate in “2 slides in 2 minutes” where they briefly introduce themselves, summarize their research interests, and identify subject areas and/or skillsets that complement their work. Think: speed dating to build a project team!
Lauren Land from Louisiana Sea Grant gives “2 slides in 2 minutes” two thumbs-up for helping her successfully assemble a trans-disciplinary project team that is currently developing a Smart Phone App called WA|VE: Waterway Information for Vessels thanks to CSS small project funding. WA|VE helps commercial fishermen increase storm preparedness and assist in finding a nearby harbor of refuge.
CSS Small Project proposals for 2015-16 will be due May 18. If you have questions about the Open House or the CSS fund, contact Mary Bergeron at mberg41@lsu.edu or call 578-4990. To participate in “2 slides in 2 minutes” please email Power Point slides to Mary to be added to the CSS Open House agenda!
