CSS Summer Internship Underway

shrimping(37)The 2015 CSS Summer Internship officially kicked off in June, bringing together a group of bright, motivated graduate and undergraduate students from around the globe. The 2015 cohort represents a diverse range of fields including Landscape Architecture, Engineering, Architecture, Coastal and Environmental Science, Anthropology, Urban Planning, and Natural Resource Management.

Working collaboratively with CSS researchers and faculty, the interns have been contributing to projects ranging from visualizations, exhibit design, and design competition work, to policy initiatives and communications that address a multitude of environmental challenges facing vulnerable Gulf Coast communities.

As part of the internship, the group participated in a two-day field excursion to Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana, traveling to the Bird’s Foot Delta to learn about the issues and controversies surrounding coastal restoration, meet with local residents and working professionals, and see first-hand the ecologically-rich but rapidly disappearing coastal landscape.

Update:   Check out the video from our 2015 summer internship and field excursion to Plaquemines Parish!
